Releasing the Chromium OS open source project
Nov 19th
Today we are open-sourcing the project as Chromium OS. We are doing this early, a year before Google Chrome OS will be ready for users, because we are eager to engage with partners, the open source community and developers. As with the Google Chrome browser, development will be done in the open from this point on. This means the code is free, accessible to anyone and open for contributions. The Chromium OS project includes our current code base, user interface experiments and some initial designs for ongoing development. This is the initial sketch and we will color it in over the course of the next year.

The Google Phone Is Very Real. And It’s Coming Soon
Nov 18th
The next “super” Android device will almost certainly be a HTC phone that’s much thinner than even the Droid or iPhone – The Dragon/Passion. This is the phone the senior Android guys at Google are now carrying around and testing, at least as of a couple of weeks ago. If you’re willing to give up the Droid’s keyboard, the Dragon/Passion is going to be a really cool phone. It should be fully available very soon.
Google Could Double Web Speeds With SPDY Protocol
Nov 16th
So Google is developing a new protocol, dubbed SPDY (pronounced speedy). SPDY is designed, from the ground up, to handle modern Web apps that transfer several smaller files. Without getting too technical, SPDY is able to handle multiple streams of data at once and prioritize on the fly.

Mark Cuban’s Plan to Kill Google
Nov 16th
Mark Cuban, the eccentric owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, has a post in his blog this week suggesting a way to kill Google by paying the top one thousand most popular sites $1M each to leave the Google Index. He wonders if Rupert Murdoch’s plan to leave the Google Index could mark the beginning of a full-scale exodus from Google, one which could be expedited with some cash payoffs from Microsoft. Now, I’m no legal expert, but it seems to me that such a ploy would not fly with the government, but for the sake of argument, let’s say it would. Why would you want to wipe out Google?

What's behind Rupert Murdoch's trash-talking of Google?
Nov 12th
When he’s doing things, nobody does so more decisively and with greater impact than Murdoch. Take, for example, his destruction of U.K. union power at Wapping, his purchase and transformation of the old Metromedia television group into the Fox Broadcasting Network, his acquisition of Wall Street Journal parent Dow Jones, his aggressive entry into satellite broadcasting around the world, his poaching of NFL football from CBS, his establishment of the Fox News Channel, his wily and victorious bid for MySpace, and his carbon-cutting initiative, just to name a few of his unswerving exploits.
