Tweaks to speed up Internet Explorer 8

Several users have reported significantly slower performance under Internet Explorer 8, particularly when the browser is first launched or when navigating to new pages. Delays of up to 30 seconds or more have been reported.

The problem, in most cases, is the presence of IE restricted sites and enhanced security configuration zones, which are generally created automatically by spyware removal software, such as Spybot and IESpyAd.

China bans solitary confinement for net addicted

Half of Australian ISP iiNET's traffic, Bittorrent

Day eleven of the trial between anti-piracy group AFACT and Aussie ISP iiNet. The ISP’s CEO Michael Malone took the stand for the third day running and faced allegations that iiNet encouraged users to download music and TV shows, and actively pursued high bandwidth customers in order to boost company profits.

EU Filesharers to be protected

Internet users throughout Europe accused of illegal file-sharing are to receive more protection from being cut off by their service provider.

The European Parliament and Council is due to make a decision on its Telecoms Reform Package in late November.
